Athletes Joining a Connecticut Swimming Club
Athletes who plan to swim with a CT Swimming club should contact the club directly regarding membership. These athletes are registered only through the club, and not directly through the CT Swimming office.
Athletes Joining USA Swimming Independently of a Club
Parents of athletes with no affiliation to a USA/CT Swimming club should contact Henk to obtain membership/registration information. Athletes entering CT/USA Swimming meets independent of a USA Swimming club or coach shall: 1.) be under the supervision of a USA Swimming coach for the duration of the meet and it is the swimmer's responsibility to make arrangements with a USA Swimming member coach prior to the meet. Athletes unaccompanied by a USA Swimming coach will not be permitted on deck. 2) be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer's legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. The name of the USA Swimming member coach supervising the athlete and racing certification should be submitted to the Meet Director with the entry into the swim meet.

There are two components of membership as a USA Swimming official - membership and certification.
For valid USA Swimming membership, each official must submit four items:
Upon the completion of these four steps, the membership portion of becoming a CT/USA Official is complete. Officials with questions regarding membership and registration should contact their club's SWIMS 3.0 Administrator.
The remainder of the requirements involve training as an official. Details on this portion of the process may be found under Certification Requirements and Procedures for New Officials. Questions on this portion should be addressed to the Officials Chair.
Other New Non-Athlete Membership
Dry Land Coaches and some volunteers are required to hold USA/CT Swimming membership. These volunteers include meet managers, chaperons, and meet safety chairs. Those in these categories who are new to USA/CT Swimming should start by requesting an online membership application link from your Team's SWIMS 3.0 Administrator. Click that link and follow the prompts.
- Once you receive your USA Swimming ID number, complete the USA Swimming Athlete Protection Test. This test is unavailable until your membership application has been processed; please wait for the email with your USA ID.
- USA Swimming Background Check. An application for this background check may be completed at any time; you need not wait for your USA Swimming ID. Please note that the background check takes at least a few days, and you must not only apply for, but pass, the check prior to being on deck.
Volunteers with questions regarding membership and registration should contact their club's CSI Registar.
