CSI Coach Representatives

2022 Nominees:

  • Brandon Barone - WEST
    • Brandon has been coaching swimming and water polo in Fairfield County for the past 10 years. Brandon's swimming career, which began in his native Baltimore, flourished after his move to Westport at the age of seven. A former Westport YMCA Water WRAT, he has competed at the local and state levels, specializing in sprint freestyle. He also competed for the Staples High School Boys Varsity Swim and Water Polo teams in Westport, captaining the latter in his junior and senior years. Brandon went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Government in 2010 from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, competing on the varsity swim team all four years.
      Brandon's coaching career began at his alma mater, Staples High School, where he assisted with the Girls Varsity Swim and Water Polo teams. He later became head coach of the Boys Varsity Water Polo Team at Staples. Brandon then coached swimming for the Westport Water WRATS for about two years, primarily working with the 11-12 year old squad. His role ultimately expanded to include the 9-10 year old and 8/under programs. Brandon then worked at Swim 70 in Norwalk, running their 8/under swim program and helping the team win the 2016 Short Course Age Group Championship. Brandon served as the Head Swim Coach at the Stamford YMCA. Currently, Brandon is the Head Coach of Weston High School Girls and Boys swimming teams having won Six State Championships and Six conference titles between the two programs over the last Six years. Brandon Is currently an Assistant coach on staff for Weston Swimming for the past six seasons.

Writing today to announce that nominations for Junior Coach Representative - a 2-year termed, voting position on the CT Swim Board of Directors - are now open.  Nominations will be accepted until March 21st, 2022.   Please use the link below to cast a nomination.  The online election will be held from March 30th to April 15th.   Ballots will be cast securely through each coach's My Account.

Procedures for Electing Coach Representatives

Nominations will be submitted by coaches to the current Coach Representatives. Elections procedures will be determined by the Coach Representatives and will be announced on this website. The current Coach Representatives will oversee counting the ballots and announcing the winner.

Coach Representative Responsibilities and Duties:

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include: voting member of the CSI House of Delegates, the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, the Program Development Committee and the Meet Sponsorship Committee. The representative senior in term shall be a delegate of CSI to the annual USA Swimming National Convention.

When elected the Junior Coach Representative agrees to serve a 2-year term; first year as Junior Representative and second year as Senior Representative. The term of office begins the day after the annual meeting of the House of Delegates held each May.

Specific Duties:

  1. Responsible for collecting the CSI's coaches concerns and opinions and advising the appropriate division and committee chairman and the CSI Board of Directors.
  2. Responsible for conducting the election of a Coach Representative each year at the CSI SC Senior and Age Group Championships.
  3. Responsible for conducting the election of Senior and Age Group Coach of the Year during Long Course Championships.
  4. Responsible for conducting an annual CSI Coaches Clinic in cooperation with the CSI Board of Directors and Senior Committee.
