Open Water Championship Updates:The 2017 CT Open Water Championship, now in its 17th year, is a 1-mile swim competition along side Quassy Amusement Park. It will take place at Lake Quassapaug, Middlebury, CT on Saturday, June 24th. This event was founded by the late Dave Parcells, longtime Madison resident, gifted athlete, and champion for the sport of open water swimming. Parcells died in 2007 while competing in the Tampa Bay Marathon Swim. In 2002, he became the oldest person and fourth American to complete a double-cross of the English Channel. In his lifetime, he crossed the 21-mile channel four times. The race staff continues this event in his spirit and dedicates the event to his memory.
