A note from Emmanuel about the camp.
What a weekend! What a group. What a step forward for Connecticut Swimming.
I want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who made the Connecticut Swimming All-Star & DEI Camp come to life. This was not just a camp, it was a shared effort, a vision executed together, and a reminder of what our sport can be when we are aligned around purpose.
To our athletes, thank you. You showed up with energy, openness, and a willingness to engage beyond the water. You leaned into conversations about identity, culture, equity, and performance. You supported each other, challenged each other, and created an environment where connection and excellence could exist at the same time. That is not easy to do, and you did it at a high level.
To our coaching staff, both local and visiting, thank you for your leadership and presence. You created space for learning, for honest conversations, and for GROWTH. Whether you were on deck, in the classroom, or leading small groups, your impact was felt. You modeled what it means to coach the whole athlete, performance, character, and connection. The consistency in messaging and the ability to bring concepts like “fair vs equal” to life made a lasting difference.
To our guest speakers and facilitators, thank you for bringing depth and perspective to this experience. You helped turn ideas into conversations and conversations into action. Your willingness to share your journeys, your challenges, and your insights gave our athletes something real to connect to.
To our leadership team and organizers, this does not happen without you. The planning, communication, logistics, and problem-solving behind the scenes were constant. From building the curriculum, coordinating schedules, managing registrations, and making sure every detail was covered, you carried this forward every step of the way. This camp was structured with intention, from pool sessions to workshops to small group discussions, all aligned with our themes of Identity, Team Culture, Performance Connection, Equity, and Action.
To the parents and families, thank you for your trust. You allowed your athletes to be part of something that asked more of them, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. That matters, and we don’t take it lightly.
This camp was built on a simple idea: excellence and inclusion are not separate, they strengthen each other. What we saw this weekend confirmed that. When athletes feel seen, supported, and connected, performance follows. When we challenge them to think, reflect, and lead, they rise.
This is just the beginning. The goal was never just a two-day experience. The goal is to create momentum, to build leaders, and to continue shaping a culture across Connecticut Swimming where every athlete has a pathway to succeed.
Thank you all for being part of this.
Let’s keep building with love.
