Athlete Travel Assistance
2025–2026 Season
PLEASE NOTE: The criteria for receiving travel assistance have been updated.
To support the development of senior-level athletes, Connecticut Swimming (CSI) offers limited travel assistance to eligible swimmers registered with Connecticut Swimming who compete in qualifying meets listed below. Assistance is subject to annual budget limitations.
Questions regarding eligibility or additional meets should be directed to the Senior Committee Chair.

General Funding Priority
Travel assistance will be awarded based on meet priority and budget availability.
- Higher-tier championship meets will be funded first.
- Assistance for lower-tier meets will be awarded only after higher-tier obligations are satisfied, and only while funds remain available.
- Funding is not guaranteed for all eligible meets if the annual budget is exhausted.
Eligibility Requirements (2025–2026)
Registration Duration
- Swimmers registered with Connecticut Swimming for less than 12 months are not eligible.
- Swimmers registered for 1 year are eligible for 50% travel assistance.
- Swimmers registered for 2 or more years are eligible for full travel assistance.
Participation Requirements
Non-Collegiate Swimmers
- Must compete in at least four (4) Connecticut Swimming–sanctioned meets during the season.
Collegiate Swimmers
To be eligible, collegiate swimmers must:
- Compete in at least three (3) individual events at the Long Course Senior Championships, and
- Represent a Connecticut team in at least three (3) USA Swimming–sanctioned meets.
Event Requirement (Per Meet)
- For each eligible meet, the swimmer must compete in at least one (1) individual event.
- Relays and time trials do not count toward eligibility.
Receipts & Reimbursement
- Do NOT submit receipts for Sectional or Zone meets.
- DO submit receipts for all other eligible meets.
- Reimbursement checks will be mailed late October / November, following approval by the CSI Senior Committee and/or Board of Directors.
- Receipts and applications must be submitted by the application deadline.
Application Process
- Application Deadline: September 22 at 2:00 PM
- Please wait until the swimmer has completed their final eligible meet before submitting an application.
- Applications must be submitted through Connecticut FAST – My Accounts.
- Requests may be submitted by swimmers, parents, or coaches.

Travel Assistance Maximums (By Meet)
Assistance is limited to the maximum amounts listed below.
Reimbursements will not be issued for redeemed points, rewards, or credits.

Trials Level
- Olympic Trials — $1,100
- Paralympic Trials — $1,100
National Championship Level
- Pro Swim Series — $750 per meet
- Winter Junior Nationals — $750
- Summer Junior Nationals — $750
- Winter Senior Nationals / US Open — $750
- Summer Senior Nationals / National Selection Meet / US Open — $750
- Paralympic Nationals (Winter & Summer) — $750
- Open Water Junior National Championships — $750
- Open Water National Championships — $750
National Development Level
- Futures — $500
- 18/U Spring Cup — $500
Zone & Sectional Level
- SC Zone Age Group Championships — $300
- LC Zone Age Group Championships — $300
- Eastern Zone LC Senior Championships — $300
- USA Swimming Speedo Sectionals (SC or LC) — $300
NCAA Compliance
The total amount of financial assistance received from all sources, including Connecticut Swimming, may not exceed the athlete’s out-of-pocket expenses.
Athletes receiving funds in excess of documented expenses risk jeopardizing amateur status and NCAA eligibility.
- NCAA Division I Bylaw 12.1.2.1.4.3 permits LSCs to provide competition-related expense assistance.
- Athletes pursuing NCAA Division I participation are strongly encouraged to:
- Maintain detailed receipts for all competition-related expenses.
- Track all funding sources, including USA Swimming, CSI, clubs, and prize money.
Notes
- Travel assistance is subject to annual budget approval.
- Connecticut Swimming reserves the right to adjust funding priorities based on budget constraints.
