Board of Directors Meeting; A Conversation With Trevor Freeland

The Board of Directors will meet Tuesday, September 15, 7:30pm, via teleconference.

Westport Weston Family YMCA presents A Conversation With Trevor Freeland: Excellence it a Habit. How do you shatter racial barriers, win championships, and build a life of success? Trevor Freeland, a member of the first all-black swim team that, against all odds, reached the top rankings of youth swimming in the United States. Their remarkable story has been chronicled in the 2007 movie, Pride. Trevor went on to a stellar college swimming career at the University of Virginia. He became the first black swimmer to compete at the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), helping his team win the first of 16 ACC team championships. As one of the few black executives on Wall Street to run a major trading desk, Trevor’s success continues. His last 30 years have been committed to challenging and breaking down barriers. Through his journey, Trevor attributes his success in life to the work ethic and life skills — pride, determination, resilience — he learned from swimming.

Saturday, September 12, 9:30 am, at the Outdoor Amphitheater, Camp Mahackeno, Westport Weston YMCA. RSVP is required. Masks are required.
