POOL EMERGENCY NUMBER: No incoming phone service at pool

MEET CLASSIFICATION: This meet is open to CT member athletes and coaches of USA Swimming.

MEET FORMAT: The meet will be swum as timed-finals

SCRATCH PROCEDURES: Swimmers must check in on-deck no later than 5:15 pm the night of the meet


FACILITY: The Walsh Intermediate School pool is a 6 lane, 25-yard pool. Colorado timing system, but swimmers will be expected to provide a timer with watch for backup times.

DISABLED ACCESS: Pool is handicap accessible. The main locker rooms are not. Please write or phone George Miles (203-481-8369; george.miles@yale.edu) for alternative changing room arrangements.

COURSE: SCY.

EVENTS: Senior 1650 Freestyle, limited to 6 heats (36 swimmers max). If the entry for the 1650 is fewer than 31 swimmers a Senior 400 IM event will be offered.

SESSION TIMES: 5:00 warm up; 5:30 meet start. All events must conclude by 7:30 p. m.

WARM-UPS: CT Swimming Warm-Up Procedures will be in effect. .

ELIGIBILITY: All athletes must be current athlete members of CT Swimming. Age on the first day of the meet shall determine the swimmer’s age and age group for the meet. Any swimmer who is entered and is unregistered, will be scratched from the meet until registration is completed. All coaches must present a valid USA Swimming coach card to the Meet Director prior to the commencement of any sanctioned swim meet, and must have this card with them while on deck.

ADAPTED SWIMMING: Any current athlete members of CT Swimming with a disability as defined by USA Swimming Rules and Regulations may enter this meet. If modifications to USA Swimming rules are necessary then the coach or athlete must notify the meet referee of any disability prior to competition.

EVENT INFORMATION: Events will be conducted as open events, seeded by time without regard to age or gender. Events will be conducted fastest to slowest. The 1650 will be limited to 36 swimmers. If fewer than 31 swimmers register to swim the 1650 a 400 IM will be offered. All events must conclude by 7:30 p. m.

ENTRY TIMES: Submit entry times in: SCY. No Times are discouraged.

DEADLINES: Entries must be received by 8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Electronic submission of entries by email is strongly encouraged. If not submitting an entry by e-mail, send hardcopy to George Miles, 27 Fir Tree Drive N, Branford, CT 06405. Teams/swimmers should bring payment to the meet. All entries must include full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration.

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries in Hy-tek or SD3/SDIF format are strongly encouraged. Submit them as an e-mail attachment to george.miles@yale.edu.

ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $5.00. Manual entries: $10.00.

PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Please make checks payable to Branford Stingrays and mail to: George Miles, 27 Fir Tree Drive N., Branford, CT 06405. Payment must be received before the meet begins.

CUT PROTOCOL: Entries will be accepted in order of receipt until the meet is full. The 1650 will be limited to 36 swimmers. [The Branford Stingrays anticipate that 15 of their swimmers will participate.] Teams will be notified within 24 hours of receipt of their entry where they are on the list of registered swimmers. If there are fewer than 31 swimmers entered in the 1650 Free, the Stingrays will conduct as many heats of 400 IM as are possible before 7:30 p. m.

RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES: The meet referee reserves the right to make any adjustments to the provisions of the meet announcement deemeed necessary to ensure the fair and efficient running of the meet, with prior approval from Program Operations. Clubs will be notified of.their entry status within 24 hours of receipt of their entry.

SAFETY:

  1. Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes. There will be no diving in the warm-up and warm-down areas at any time
  2. No shaving is permitted at the competition site.
  3. No glass containers are permitted within the facility.
  4. Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach. If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up. The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups.
  5. No electronic devices with cameras are permitted in the locker rooms.

RULES: Current USA Swimming rules will govern all competition.

TIMERS, OFFICIALS OR WORK ASSIGNMENTS: Swimmers must provide a timer (with watch) and counter.

DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff actively participating in the meet are permitted on the pool deck.

SCORING: The meet will not be scored.

AWARDS: No awards will be presented.

CONCESSIONS: No

HOSPITALITY FOR COACHES AND OFFICIALS: No

PARKING: Parking is available in a small, streetside lot located just before the main driveway for the school OR in a large lot on the far side-of the school. Do not park in the circular driveway in front of the school. You will be ticketed and towed.

DIRECTIONS: Walsh Interemediate School is at 185 Damascus Road, Branford, CT. Take I-95 to Exit 55. Turn west on Route 1. Proceed past movie theater to traffic light at Windmill Hill Road (there will be a gas station on your left). Turn left on Windmill Hill Rd and proceed to first stop sign. Turn left onto Damascus Rd. The school will be on your right, down a short hill. Parking is available in a small lot before the main driveway of the school OR in a large lot on the far side of the school. Entrance to the pool is on the right side of the building.
