POOL EMERGENCY NUMBER: 203-32-2447

MEET FORMAT:  The meet will be swum as timed-finals.  Coaches will receive scratch sheets, which must be returned no later than 35 minutes before the beginning of the session.   Swimmers in the 400 IM and 500 Free must supply a timer. 

MEET CLASSIFICATION:  This meet is open to all USA Swimming athletes and clubs.

FACILITY: 6 lane, 25-yd pool with Colorado Timing System. Extensive stadium seating is available. Pool and bleachers are Handicapped Accessible. NB: Climbing over the wall to go from the stands to the deck or the deck to the stands is strictly prohibited. Allow ample time to take the proper route to the deck. 

DISABLED ACCESS: Handicapped parking available at Yale lots adjacent to the pool. Main entrance is handicap accessible. Elevator provides handicap access to pool level.

SESSION TIMES:    13 & over Events

General Warm-up: No earlier than 7:00 for a minimum of 30 minutes per team

Sprints & Pace: No earlier than 7:30 for a minimum of 10 minutes

Session Start: No earlier than 7:45 

10 & under events

General Warm-up: No earlier than 12:00 for a minimum of 15 minutes per team

Sprints & Pace: No earlier than 12:15 for a minimum of 10 minutes

Session Start: No earlier than 12:30 

11/12 events

General Warm-up: No earlier than 2:30 for a minimum of 20 minutes per team

Sprints & Pace: No earlier than 2:50 for a minimum of 10 minutes

Session Start: No earlier than 3:00 

The 13 & over sessions will be limited to four hours of competition. The 10 & under sessions will be limited to 2 hours and 30 minutes of competition. The 11/12 sessions will be limited to 3 hours of competition. If the entry is small enough to create a single 12 & under session of 4 hours of competition, BRS reserves the right to request CSI approval to combine sessions those sessions with a noon warm-up. Teams will be notified of any changes in schedule or cuts affecting their swimmers as soon as possible and no later than Monday, December 29.  

CSI guidelines will be observed at all warm up sessions. Warm-up assignments will be made by team rather than gender. Teams will be notified of the final warm-up schedule by Monday, December 29. 

ELIGIBILITY:  All athletes must be current athlete members of USA Swimming. All coaches must present a valid USA Swimming coach card to the Meet Director prior to the commencement of any sanctioned swim meet, and must have this card with them while on deck. 

ENTRY INFORMATION and DEADLINES: Entry deadline is 12/23/08.  Make checks payable to Branford Stingrays. Submit electronic entry files (Hy-tek or sd3 formats) via email to george.miles@yale.edu. Mail hardcopy and payment to George Miles, 27 Fir Tree Drive North, Branford, CT, 06405.  Any team entering more than 4 swimmers that fails to submit an electronic entry must pay a surcharge of $10 per swimmer. All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration.  No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry.  Any swimmer who is entered and is unregistered, will be scratched from the meet until registration is completed. Entries will be limited by session as described above. 

CONNECTICUT-ONLY DEADLINE: Connecticut teams who submit entries before December 20 will be slotted ahead of out of state teams. 

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to george.miles@yale.edu.  Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file.  Entries will be slotted by date files or paper forms are received. Payment is due before the start of the meet. 

ENTRY LIMITS: Swimmers may enter four individual events per day. If a session is over-subscribed, swimmers will be restricted to three events in that session. Swimmer entering four events must indicate the event from which they wish to be scratched in case of over-subscription. If a session remains over-subscribed, relays will be eliminated, after which additional cuts will be made based on the order in which entries are received. 

ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $4.50 for individual events, $8.00 for relays.  Any team entering more than 4 swimmers that fails to submit an electronic entry must pay a surcharge of $10 per swimmer. 

PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Please make checks payable to Branford Stingrays and mail to: George Miles, 27 Fir Tree Drive N., Branford, CT 06405. Payment must be received before the meet.

RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES: The meet referee reserves the right to make any adjustments to the provisions of the meet announcement deemed necessary to ensure the fair and efficient running of the meet, with prior approval from Program Operations.  Clubs will be notified of cuts no later than Monday, December 29. 

RELAYS: All relay swimmers must be officially entered in the meet.

SAFETY: 

  1. Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes.  There will be no diving in the warm-up and warm down areas at any time
  2. No shaving is permitted at the competition site.
  3. No glass containers are permitted within the facility.
  4. Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach.  If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up.  The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups.
  5. No electronic devices with cameras are permitted in the locker rooms.

RULES: 2008 USA Swimming rules will govern all competition.   

TIME TRIALS: Time trials for individual events only will be offered at the discretion of the meet referee if time allows.  Time trials are $5.00 for individual events. 

TIMERS OR WORK ASSIGNMENTS:  Teams will be expected to provide timers in proportion to the size of their entry. Certified officials who communicate their intention to help at the meet before December 28 will be counted toward a team’s work assignments. Swimmers competing in the 400 IM and/or 500 Frees must provide a timer. 

DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff are permitted on the pool deck.   

SCORING: The meet will not be scored. 

AWARDS: Ribbons will be awarded to the top 6 finishers in each 12 and under individual event. 

CONCESSIONS: A concession stand will be in operation for the duration of the meet. 

DIRECTIONS & PARKING INFORMATION:

Take I-91 to Exit 3 (Trumbull Street). At end of exit ramp turn left onto Orange Street. Proceed to first traffic light and turn right onto Grove Street. Proceed to 5th traffic light. (Grove Street becomes Tower Parkway at the 4th light). Payne Whitney Gymnasium will be the tall building on the right. Drivers may leave swimmers curbside at the front door of the gym. University parking is available behind the gymnasium. Proceed to the next light and turn sharp right onto Dixwell Avenue. Take first right onto Lake Place. The entrance to the parking lot will be on the right. An additional University lot may be entered around the corner from Lake Place on Ashmun Street. A municipal parking lot (fees are charged) is available on Broadway in front of the Yale Bookstore.
