MEET CLASSIFICATION: This meet is open to all USA Swimming athletes and clubs.

MEET FORMAT:
The meet will be swum as timed-finals. Coaches will receive scratch sheets, which must be returned no later than 20 minutes before the beginning of the session.

SCRATCH PROCEDURES:

FACILITY: The Stauffer Pool is an 6-lane, 25-yard pool. Colorado Timing System with Mercury 6 display. Spectator seating is limited, in bleachers running along the length of the pool. There is standing room only over-looking the starting blocks end of the pool.

DISABLED ACCESS: Access available to pool deck through girls and boys locker rooms. Spectator area accessible on ground level with elevator to second floor if needed.

COURSE: SCY.

EVENTS: See attached list.

SESSION TIMES:
Saturday morning: 8:00 am Warm-up, 9:00 am Start

WARM-UPS: Designated lane assignments will be given for warm-up sessions. CT Swimming warm-up procedures will be in effect. .

ELIGIBILITY: All athletes must be current athlete members of USA Swimming. All coaches must present a valid USA Swimming coach card to the Meet Director prior to the commencement of any sanctioned swim meet, and must have this card with them while on deck.

ADAPTED SWIMMING: Any current athlete members of USA Swimming with a disability as defined by USA Swimming Rules and Regulations may enter this meet. If modifications to USA Swimming rules are necessary then the coach or athlete must notify the meet referee of any disability prior to competition.
ENTRY LIMITIONS: 4 events per day.

ENTRY TIMES: Submit times in SCY. No times (NT) are discouraged.

ENTRY INFORMATION and DEADLINES: Entry deadline is 12/31/08. Mail hardcopy and payment to the entry chairperson: Jeremy Howard, Water Rat Swim Team, Westport Weston Family Y, PO Box 190, Westport, CT 06881. All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration. The date an entry is received will be determined by the e-mail receipt.

CONNECTICUT-ONLY DEADLINE: CT deadline is 12/21/08.

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to the entry chair at jhoward@westporty.org. Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file. Payment must be received by Monday January 5, 2009.

ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $4.00 for individual events, $8.00 for relays.  Non-electronic entries: $6.00 for individual events, $12.00 for relays.  No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry.

PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Please make checks payable to WRAT Parents Club and mail to: Jeremy Howard Water Rat Swim Team, Westport Weston Family Y, PO Box 190, Westport, CT 06881. Payment must be received by 01/05/09.

CUT PROTOCOL: The meet will be kept under a 3.5 hour timeline. Entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Clubs will be notified of cuts no later than Monday January 5, 2009.

RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES: The meet referee reserves the right to make any adjustments to the provisions of the meet announcement deemed necessary to ensure the fair and efficient running of the meet, with prior approval from Program Operations. Clubs will be notified of cuts no later than Monday January 5, 2009.

RELAYS: Relays will be limited to 4 relays per team per event. All relay swimmers must be officially entered in the meet.

SAFETY:

  1. Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes. There will be no diving in the warmup and warmdown areas at any time
  2. No shaving is permitted at the competition site.
  3. No glass containers are permitted within the facility.
  4. Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach. If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up. The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups.
  5. No electronic devices with cameras are permitted in the locker rooms.

RULES: 2009 USA Swimming rules will govern all competition.

TIME TRIALS: No.

TIMERS OR WORK ASSIGNMENTS: Timers will be required from teams in proportion to the size of their entry.

DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff are permitted on the pool deck.

SCORING: The meet will not be scored.

AWARDS: Ribbons will be awarded to the top 6 finishers in each individual event, and top 3 finishers in each relay event. There will be Heat Winner awards.

CONCESSIONS: A concession stand will be in operation for the duration of the meet.

PARKING: Parking is available in the municipal lot on Elm St., behind the YMCA. Please observe parking restrictions.

DIRECTIONS:

Merritt Parkway (Rte. 15): Take Exit 42. Turn right (from North) or Turn left (from South) and follow straight to Westport. Upon reaching downtown area, bear left onto Elm St. Municipal Parking is on both sides of Elm St. Y entrance is on right through parking lot. Observe restrictions.

I-95: Take exit 17. Left off exit. Continue north on Rt 33 to Rt 1 (Post Rd.). Take right onto Rt 1, go over bridge and take left at second light onto Main St. Take first right onto Elm St. Y is on right, parking is on left. Please observe parking restrictions.
