MEET CLASSIFICATION:  This meet is open to all USA Swimming athletes and clubs.

 

MEET FORMAT:  The meet will be swum as a timed-final.  The 1500-meter Freestyle will be swum fast-to-slow, alternating heats of girls and boys.   No relay events will be swum.   

 

SCRATCH PROCEDURES: All sessions will be seeded after the positive check-in deadline, 45 minutes before the session is scheduled to start.  Coaches must check-in with the Clerk of Course located at the scoring desk in the bleacher area.  Heat and lane assignments will be posted and handed out to coaches prior to the start of competition.  Swimmers are to report directly to their assigned lane before their event and heat is called. 

 

FACILITY: The Wolff-Zackin Natatorium is the home of the University of Connecticut men’s and women's swimming and diving programs located on the University’s main campus in Storrs, Connecticut.  The 39,000-square foot natatorium includes a six lane 50-meter pool with non-turbulent lane lines equipped with a Colorado Timing System 6, touch pads and an electronic scoreboard.  Spectator seating is available for approximately 800 spectators.

 

DISABLED ACCESS: Handicapped parking and pool deck access are available through the rear entrances of the pool.  Contact the Meet Director for more information and special arrangements.

SESSION TIMES:    Friday PM:      Warm-Up: 4:00pm; Start: 5:00pm

 

WARM-UPS: CT Swimming warm-up procedures will be in effect.  The pool will open for warm-ups at 3:30pm Friday evening.  Teams will be assigned warm-up lanes after all entries are received, and a warm-up schedule will be posted and distributed prior to the day of the meet.  The pool will be cleared approximately 10 minutes before the start of competition.  If the timeline allows for it and at the Referee’s discretion, brief five to ten minute warm-up breaks may be added periodically during the session.

 

ELIGIBILITY:  All athletes must be current athlete members of  USA Swimming.  Age on the first day of the meet shall determine the swimmer’s age and age group for the meet.  Any swimmer who is entered and is unregistered, will be scratched from the meet until registration is completed.  All coaches must present a valid USA Swimming coach card to the Meet Director prior to the commencement of any sanctioned swim meet, and must have this card with them while on deck.

 

ADAPTED SWIMMING:  Any current athlete members of USA Swimming with a disability as defined by USA Swimming Rules and Regulations may enter this meet.  If modifications to USA Swimming rules are necessary then the coach or athlete must notify the meet referee of any disability prior to competition.

 

EVENT INFORMATION: As mentioned above, the 1500 Free and the 400 Free may be seeded with 2 swimmers per lane if the Meet Director deems this necessary.  Otherwise, the 1500 Free will run fastest to slowest, alternating heats of girls and boys.  All events aside from the 200 IM will be classified as “Open” events.

 

ENTRY LIMITATIONS: Maximum of 2 events per swimmer.
 

ENTRY TIMES: Seeding order: LCM, SCM, SCY.  No Times are discouraged.

 

DEADLINES: Entry deadline is May 9th, 2009.  Mail hardcopy and payment to the entry chairperson: Phil Titterton, 223 Anthony Rd, Tolland, CT 06084.  All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration.  Entries will be considered received when the entry chair receives an electronic entry file.

 

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to the entry chair at phil.titterton@ttmtech.com.  Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file.  Payment should be postmarked on or before the date of the entry deadline. 

 

ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $5.00 for individual events.  No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry.

 

PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Please make checks payable to University Aquatic Club and mail to: Phil Titterton, 223 Anthony Rd, Tolland, CT 06084.  Payment should be postmarked on or before May 9th, 2009. 

 

CUT PROTOCOL for INVITATIONALS: Teams will be cut based on the date their electronic entry was received.  Clubs will be notified of such changes or cuts no later than Monday before the meet.

 

RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES: The meet referee reserves the right to make any adjustments to the provisions of the meet announcement deemed necessary to ensure the fair and efficient running of the meet, with prior approval from Program Operations.  Clubs will be notified of cuts no later than Monday before the meet.

 

RELAYS: No relays will be offered.

 

SAFETY:

 

  1. Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes.  There will be no diving in the warm-up and warm-down areas at any time
  2. No shaving is permitted at the competition site.
  3. No glass containers are permitted within the facility.
  4. Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach.  If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up.  The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups.
  5. No electronic devices with cameras are permitted in the locker rooms.

 

RULES: Current USA Swimming rules will govern all competition. 

 

TIME TRIALS: Time trials will be offered at the discretion of the meet referee if time allows.  Time trials are $5.00 for individual events.  Time trial events count toward the total number of event limitations per session.

 

TIMERS, OFFICIALS OR WORK ASSIGNMENTS: Teams will be required to supply timers in proportion to the size of their entry.  For the 1500 Free, swimmers must supply their own counters and timers.  Qualified officials interested in working at the meet can contact the Officials Contact, Cheryl Melendy at cmelendy@travelers.com.

 

DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff actively participating in the meet are permitted on the pool deck. 

 

SCORING: The meet will not be scored.

 

AWARDS: The top finisher in each event and age will receive an award from the Meet Director.

 

CONCESSIONS: A concession stand will be offering refreshments in the pool lobby. 

 

HOSPITALITY FOR COACHES AND OFFICIALS: There will be a hospitality area for coaches and officials located through the blue doors to the left of the record board.

 

PARKING: Spectators are asked to park in the South Garage, located across from Gampel Pavilion adjacent to the UConn Co-Op Bookstore.

FROM HARTFORD: The University of Connecticut campus is located 45 minutes driving time from Hartford. Take I-84 east to exit (68). Off the exit take a right on Rte. 195 south and follow signs to the university. Once on the campus go right on North Eagleville Road. Take first left onto Glenbrook Rd. At end of Glenbrook Rd., go left on Hillside Road. Follow Hillside Road through campus towards the silver dome.  This is the field house; the pool is in the adjacent brick building.

FROM BOSTON: The University of Connecticut campus is approximately one and half-hours from Boston. From Mass Pike take I-84 west to exit (68). Off the exit take a left on Rte. 195 south and follow signs to the university. Once on the campus go right on North Eagleville Road. Take first left onto Glenbrook Rd. At end of Glenbrook Rd., go left on Hillside Road. Follow Hillside Road through campus towards the silver dome.  This is the field house; the pool is in the adjacent brick building.

FROM PROVIDENCE: The University of Connecticut is approximately one and one quarter hours from Providence. From Rte. 295 take exit (5-6), following signs to Hartford.
