MEET CLASSIFICATION:  This meet is open to all USA Swimming athletes and clubs. 

 

MEET FORMAT:  The meet will be swum as timed-finals.  Events will be swum slowest to fastest except the 400 Individual Medley which will run fast to slow alternating women/men.

 

SCRATCH PROCEDURES:  Coaches will receive a scratch sheet for each session of the meet in their information packet listing all of their swimmers and events for that session. Coaches must indicate all scratches on these sheets and turn them in to the computer table within one half hour after the beginning of warm ups even if there are no scratches.

 

FACILITY: The Yale Practice Pool, located on the 3rd floor of the Payne Whitney Gymnasium is a 5 lane, 50 meter pool.  Manual timing will be utilized.  Deck space and spectator seating is limited.

 

DISABLED ACCESS: The Payne Whitney Gymnasium is handicapped accessible with the use of ramps and elevators.  Parking can be found near and around the gymnasium; handicapped parking can be found on Tower Parkway in front of the gym.

EVENTS: See attached list.

 

SESSION TIMES: General warm-up for all senior sessions, no lane assignments. The last 10 minutes of each warm-up session two lanes will open up for sprints and one for pace. 12/Under warm-up will be broken into two groupings with assigned lanes followed by a sprint and circle swim session.

13/Over          Warm-up 7:30 a.m.                  Start 8:30 a.m.

12/Under       Warm-up 12:45 p.m.               Start 1:45 p.m.

Warm-up and start times are for both Saturday and Sunday sessions.

 

WARM-UPS: CT Swimming Warm-Up Procedures will be in effect.  Warm-up and start times for all sessions are subject to change.

 

ELIGIBILITY:  All athletes must be current athlete members of  USA Swimming. Age on the first day of the meet shall determine the swimmer’s age and age group for the meet.  Any swimmer who is entered and is unregistered, will be scratched from the meet until registration is completed. All coaches must present a valid USA Swimming coach card to the Meet Director prior to the commencement of any sanctioned swim meet, and must have this card with them while on deck.

 

ADAPTED SWIMMING:  Any current athlete members of  USA Swimming with a disability as defined by USA Swimming Rules and Regulations may enter this meet. If modifications to USA Swimming rules are necessary then the coach or athlete must notify the meet referee of any disability prior to competition.

 

EVENT INFORMATION:

 

ENTRY LIMITATIONS:  Swimmers may enter a maximum of 8 events for the meet, and no more than 4 events per day.  Depending upon the size of the meet the 400 Individual Medley may be limited to 4 heats of women and 4 heats of men – 8 heats total.  Swimmers who are “cut” from the 400 IM will have the opportunity to choose another event on that day.  The 400 IM will be run fast to slow alternating women and men.
 

ENTRY TIMES: Submit entry times in LCM. No Times are discouraged.

 

DEADLINES: Entry deadline is May 8, 2009. Mail payment to the entry chairperson: Tim Wise, 85 Merriman Road, Wethersfield, CT 06109.  No hardcopy necessary unless using ‘snail’ mail only. All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration. Date for receipt of entry will be determined by email receipt or hard copy.

 

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to the entry chair at tim.wise@yale.edu. Payment is expected by the entry deadline in order for the entry to be considered complete.

 

ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $4.00 for individual events.  Manual entries: $10.00 for individual events

 

PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Please make checks payable to OMNI Swim Club and mail to: Tim Wise – 85 Merriman Road – Wethersfield, CT 06109. Payment must be received by May 8, 2009.

 

CUT PROTOCOL:  If a session is over-subscribed first the 7/under swimmers, followed by relays, and then all fourth events will be cut. Depending upon the size of the meet the 400 Individual Medley may be limited to 4 heats of women and 4 heats of men – 8 heats total.  Swimmers who are “cut” from the 400 IM will have the opportunity to choose another event on that day.   If the time line estimate still exceeds four hours teams will be cut based on the date of receipt of their entry. Clubs will be notified no later than the Monday before the meet.

 

RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES: The meet referee reserves the right to make any adjustments to the provisions of the meet announcement deemed necessary

to ensure the fair and efficient running of the meet, with prior approval from Program Operations.  Clubs will be notified of cuts no later than Monday before the meet.

 

SAFETY:

  1. Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes.  There will be no diving in the warm-up and warm-down areas at any time
  2. No shaving is permitted at the competition site.
  3. No glass containers are permitted within the facility.
  4. Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach.  If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up.  The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups.
  5. No electronic devices with cameras are permitted in the locker rooms.

 

RULES: Current USA Swimming rules will govern all competition. 

 

TIME TRIALS:  Time trials will be offered at the discretion of the meet referee if time allows.  Time trials are $8.00 for individual events and $10.00 for relays.  Time trial events count toward the total number of event limitations per session and will only include those events listed for the meet.

 

TIMERS, OFFICIALS OR WORK ASSIGNMENTS: Teams will be required to supply timers in proportion to the size of their entry. Please note that timers are required for the duration of the session. Qualified officials interested in working at the meet can contact the meet director @ tim.wise@yale.edu

 

DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff actively participating in the meet are permitted on the pool deck. 

 

SCORING: The meet will not be scored.

 

AWARDS:  No awards will be given

HOSPITALITY FOR COACHES AND OFFICIALS: Yes

 

PARKING: parking is available all around the gym.

 

DIRECTIONS: Take Exit 3 off of I - 91 (Trumbull Street).  Go straight through three lights, at the fourth light take left (Prospect).  At the next light take right (Grove street).  Follow road through one light and Payne Whitney is straight ahead.  Practice Pool is located on the third floor.
