MEET CLASSIFICATION:  This meet is open to all USA Swimming athletes and clubs.

 

MEET FORMAT:  The meet will be swum as timed-finals.  The following events will be swum fastest to slowest, alternating heats of women and men: Senior 400 IM, Senior 400 Free, 13 & over 800 free; and the 13 & over 1,500 free.

FACILITY: The Wesleyan University Pool is an 8 -lane, 50-meter pool with touch pads at both ends of the pool and a full Colorado display board.  This meet will be using automatic timing.  The spectator seating will handle approximately 300 people.

 

DISABLED ACCESS:  Limited handicapped parking available behind the Freeman Athletic Center.  Disabled access is through the front entrance only. Elevator in front lobby goes to the locker rooms and pool deck. Spectator area is to the left of the front lobby. If special assistance is required by athletes, coaches, or spectators, please contact the Meet Director.

WARM-UPS: CT Swimming Warm-Up Procedures will be in effect.  .

 

ELIGIBILITY:  All athletes must be current athlete members of  USA Swimming. Age on the first day of the meet shall determine the swimmer’s age and age group for the meet. Any swimmer who is entered and is unregistered, will be scratched from the meet until registration is completed. All coaches must present a valid USA Swimming coach card to the Meet Director prior to the commencement of any sanctioned swim meet, and must have this card with them while on deck.

 

ADAPTED SWIMMING:  Any current athlete members of USA Swimming with a disability as defined by USA Swimming Rules and Regulations may enter this meet. If modifications to USA Swimming rules are necessary then the coach or athlete must notify the meet referee of any disability prior to competition.

 

ENTRY LIMITATIONS: Swimmers may enter and compete in 3 events per day.
 

ENTRY TIMES: Submit entry times in: LCM. No Times are discouraged.

 

DEADLINES: Connecticut teams that we receive their entry by May 5, 2009, will be guaranteed entry in the meet.  Connecticut teams and out of state teams that send their entry in after May 5, but prior to May 20, will be entered in order of receipt of their entry. No changes to a team’s entry will be accepted after May 20.  Mail hardcopy and payment to the entry chairperson: Lisa Earley, 846 Beechwood Road, Orange, CT, 06477All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration. Receipt of entry is determined by the date that the entry chairperson receives the formal entry.   Payment must be received prior to the first day of the meet.

 

CONNECTICUT-ONLY DEADLINES: Connecticut teams that we receive their entry by May 5, 2009, will be guaranteed entry in the meet. 

 

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to the entry chair at learley851@aol.com.  Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file.

 

ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $5.00 for individual events, $7.00 for distance event (events #1,2,3,4,49,50,95 & 96), $8.00 for relays.  A $10 fee will be charged to teams that do not send their entry in electronically. Time trials, if time permits will be $5.00 per event.  No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry (optional).

 

PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Please make checks payable to Hopkins Mariner Swim Team and mail to: Lisa Earley 846 Beechwood Road, Orange, CT, 06477. Payment must be received by June 5, 2009.

 

CUT PROTOCOL: If the meet is oversubscribed we will eliminate teams based on the date we received their entry. Entries are accepted on a first come first serve basis until the meet is full. Formal team entry date is determined by the date of entry hard copy receipt by the host team.  Clubs will be notified of cuts no later than Monday before the meet.

 

RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES: The meet referee reserves the right to make any adjustments to the provisions of the meet announcement deemed necessary to ensure the fair and   efficient running of the meet, with prior approval from Program Operations.  Clubs will be notified of cuts no later than Monday before the meet.

 

RELAYS:  All relay swimmers must be officially entered in the meet.  Relays do not count toward the three events limit.

 

SAFETY:

  1. Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes.  There will be no diving in the warm-up and warm-down areas at any time
  2. No shaving is permitted at the competition site.
  3. No glass containers are permitted within the facility.
  4. Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach.  If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up.  The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups.
  5. No electronic devices with cameras are permitted in the locker rooms.

 

RULES: Current USA Swimming rules will govern all competition. 

 

TIME TRIALS: None

 

TIMERS, OFFICIALS OR WORK ASSIGNMENTS: Teams will be required to supply timers based on the size of their entry.  Swimmers on Friday evening, the Senior 800 free, & the Senior 1,500 free must supply their own timers.

 

DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff actively participating in the meet are permitted on the pool deck. 

 

SCORING: The meet will be scored. The following points will be used for all events.

AWARDS: Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each individual event. Team awards will be given to the top three placing teams in the women’s, men’s and overall division.  Each participant will receive a commemorative pin. Teams must pick up their awards at the end of the final session.  Awards will not be mailed if they are not picked up.

 

CONCESSIONS: Will not be provided by HMST, will be provided by Wesleyan at the concession stand in the hallway of the rink

 

HOSPITALITY FOR COACHES AND OFFICIALS will be available throughout the meet.

 

PARKING: All parking for users and visitors of the Freeman Athletic Center will be in either the Cross Street parking lot (Lot R) or the West parking lot (Lot Q). The entrance to Lot R is located on Cross Street directly across from the fire station.  The entrance to Lot Q is on Cross Street and is the first left after the fire station. 

 

DIRECTIONS: From the South: North on I-91 or the Merritt parkway. Follow signs for Rte. 66 east and proceed to the intersection of Rte. 66 and Rte. 3. Turn right onto Vine Street. Parking is available next to the tennis courts. The athletic complex is at the end of the street.

From the North: Follow I-91 to Rte. 9 and proceed to the Middletown Exit. Take a right at the light onto 66 west (Washington Street). Drive up the hill to the Wesleyan campus and turn left onto High Street. Proceed to Church Street and turn right at the light. Proceed approximately 1000 yards to the athletic center.
