Position: Assistant Swim Coach (Full Time)
The New Canaan YMCA is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Assistant Swim Coach. This is a full time position with a competitive salary, YMCA membership and includes benefits and retirement opportunities.
The Assistant Swim Coach will work with all Age Group and Senior level teams and assist will the daily administrative work.
Responsibilities include maintaining a high level of communication with fellow coaches and team parents, helping to plan events (competitive and social), assisting with swim meet entries, helping to plan and run swim team clinics, assist with the planning and running of daily practices for the Age Group and Senior Team levels, assist in website development (photos, meet announcements, team information, etc.), assist with the distribution of the quarterly newsletter, keeping all required certifications up to date (CPR, Coaches Safety Training, and First Aid).
The Assistant Swim Coach must be able to answer all questions in relation to the swim team and areas of the YMCA, and assist with the operation of all home meets.
Previous competitive coaching experience/participation is a must, as well as strong administrative, organizational, and computer skills. Knowledge of the Hy-Tek swimming software is strongly recommended. The Assistant Swim Coach must also have and maintain certifications in the following safety areas: CPR for the Professional rescuer/AED, Lifeguard training or Safety training for Swim Coaches, and first Aid. Other necessary certifications but not required as of date of hire: YMCA Principles of Competitive Swimming and Diving and the USA Swimming Foundations of Coaching. The Assistant Coach must also submit and pass a background check with the New Canaan YMCA and USA swimming prior to employment.

Position: Assistant Swim Coach (Part Time)
New Canaan YMCA Caimans are looking for part time Assistant Swim Coaches to work 12-15 hours a week with all Age Group and Senior level teams. This includes maintaining a high level of communication with fellow coaches and swim team parents, assisting with daily practices, assisting with, as well as attending, events (competitive and social). The Assistant Swim Coach must be able to answer questions pertaining to all levels of the swim team and areas of the YMCA, assist with the operation of all home meets, and attend travel meets scheduled by the Assistant Competitive Swimming Director.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
· Report to the Assistant Competitive Swimming Director on matters relating to the Age Group Team levels. (i.e. team development, swimmer behavior, etc.)
· Attend all meets scheduled for the Age Group Teams, as assigned by the Assistant Competitive Swimming Director.
· Keep all required certifications up to date (CPR, Coaches Safety Training, and First Aid).
· Continue personal education related to the sport of swimming.
· Perform other duties as designated by the supervisor. (i.e. meet setup and clean up)

The New Canaan YMCA is seeking an individual who is highly motivated to fill the Part–Time position of the Head Eight and Under Coach. The 8/Under group consists of three levels, Pre (beginners), Red (intermediate) and Bronze (experienced). Weekly hours would include daily practices, held in the evenings, swim meets as well as parent education and administrative duties such as meet entries and parent communications.
Previous competitive coaching experience/participation is strongly recommended, as well as strong organizational administrative, and computer skills. Knowledge of Hy-Tek software is preferred. Certifications in the following safety areas: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Training or Safety Training for the Swim Coach, and First Aid. Other certifications: YMCA Principles of Competitive Swimming and Diving and USA Swimming Foundations of Coaching.
