SC Age Group Championship Proposal
Dear Coaches and other Members of the Connecticut Swimming Community:
As you may know, a proposal to restructure the Age Group Championships for the
short course season has been submitted for review. This proposal has been under
discussion at the committee level and at Program Development for the past couple
of months.
Two of the three committees within Program Development have given this proposal
a favorable review, and one has not. We have had extensive discussion on this
proposal at Program Development over the past three meetings, including a very
extended review and discussion at our last meeting this week.
Program Development has not taken a position on this proposal. At our last
meeting, having received extensive feedback from our three committees as well as
from various members of our coaching community, we concluded that we were not
yet ready to vote on this proposal, for various reasons. We are now seeking
additional feedback from our community on this, while we allow for the
transition of the Age Group Committee chair and members.
I encourage you to go to the Connecticut Swimming website, review this proposal,
and provide your feedback. The proposal can be found under the agenda and minute
links for the Age Group, Technical Planning and Senior Committees, as well as
Program Development; it can also be found on the coaches website and under
"what's new". Feedback can be shared with any of our current or incoming
committee chairs, and your coach representatives. Of course, you should also
feel free to share your feedback with me and other members of the Board.
Thank you for your time.
Jeff Gray, Chair
Program Development Committee
