07.02.07 Elite Training Camp Update: There is a mandatory meeting, on Saturday July 7th, after the morning session of the Senior Championship, for all athletes and their parents. The Olympic Training Center (OTC) paperwork will be filled out at this time. This paperwork is mandatory for anyone staying at the OTC. Anyone unable to attend must contact Jen Lyman at coachlyman@hotmail.com or 203-464-6903.

Objective: The objectives of this CT Camp, is to motivate, educate and train some of the very best swimmers within our state.
The following are goals that relate to the objectives:
1. Provide an educational experience for each participating swimmer.
2. To educate participants on the history and heroes of USA Swimming.
3. Improvement of swimmer’s self-image.
4. Promote LSC unity by camp participants.
5. Retention of athletes.
6. The transfer of information back to the swimmers’ home club.
Site: U.S. Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs, CO
Dates: August 19-25, 2007. Athletes will arrive on Sunday afternoon and depart on Saturday morning.
Number of Athletes: Maximum of 40 swimmers
Age: 13 – 18 years old at time of camp (12th grade or younger)
Eligibility: CT selected USA Swimming athlete members
Qualification Standards/ Selection Criteria: On August 22, 2006 the top 6 swimmers in each SENIOR LCM event from the CT FAST database (date range of: 04/01/06-08/22/06) will be selected and invited.
Camp Schedule: The 6-day camp program will include a combination of pool training, motivational and education sessions, and team building activities.
Sample topics for athletes: Physiological basis for post race recovery; drug and supplement education; practical psychological training skills; nutrition; race strategy and race analysis (subject to change at anytime)
Accommodations: The campers will be housed in dormitories at OTC.
Meals and Snacks: Campers will also be provided breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks at the OTC. The cost of all meals and snacks is included in the cost of the camp.
Cost: The total cost of the trip including airfare will be $695. CSI will reimburse $200 in travel expenses at the completion of the attended camp. A mandatory Non Refundable deposit of $250 will be due on Monday, May 7, 2007 and June 11, 2007 for the second selection list.. The deposit will secure the spot of the attendee until the remaining $445 balance due date Monday June 11, 2007. If balance is not received on the balance due date they attendee will relinquish his/her spot at this camp. No exception No Refunds.
Camp Staff: The camp staff will be selected from accomplished Candidates from CT and include a head coach, at least 4 assistant coaches, a manager, and a CT athlete representative. (Number of assistant coaches depends on the size of the Coaches to Swimmers camp ratio being 1/10)

Guest Speaker is Jane Grosser, USA Swimming
Overview: The camp is to take place during the 2006 Connecticut Swimming Swimposium and aims to build on opportunity educate parents, swimmers and coaches. This camp will help all age group (ages 10 and under) swimmers to become familiar with and to develop and/or improve their sprint and relay skills. It also aims also to provide a multitude of information to our CT swimmers parents in various subjects such as sport psychology, nutrition and more.
Selection Criteria: Swimmers must be 10 years or younger on October 7, 2006 and must be 2006 or 2007 members of USA Swimming. Preference will be given to CT registered athletes.
The athlete portion of the camp will be conducted by Connecticut Swimming coaches and will emphasize developing and improving relay and sprint skills for young athletes. The Parent Education Seminar will feature Jane Grosser, Illinois Swimming and USA Swimming. Jane is a swim parent and she has been active in many areas of Illinois Swimming since 1984. She is currently serving as the secretary for Illinois Swimming and Chair of the 2006 Swimposium team. In the past, Jane has served as the Age Group Vice-Chair, and served on the Swim-a-thon, senior, age group and camp committees. At the national level, she has served as the Domestic Age group Programs Coordinator for USA Swimming as well as the Age Group Planning Committee Chair, and Camps Committee Chair, Swim-a-thon weekend camp manager, National select camp coach, Manager to the Girls National select camp and director. Most recently she served as the Head Manager of the Southern Zone Select Camp. Jane is a former head coach and head age group coach, and was a competitive swimmer for four years at the collegiate level. Jane will offer an educated, well-rounded approach to being a supportive and informed swim parent. Her topics will include: Why do kids swim and what makes them quit, growth and development, nutrition and supplements, and your role as a swim parent.

open for this camp until it is full or until mid-September. We will
make every effort to accommodate all swimmers and their parents.
