Dear Coaches/Team Representatives,
Enclosed in this packet you will find the Work Assignment(s) for your team and the Preliminary Program for Senior Championships. Please familiarize yourself with your team’s work assignment. As you know, swimming is a cooperative sport so please remind your parents they have a responsibility to their swimmers/team to fulfill their job assignment(s). Work assignments are for the entire session and it is your team’s responsibility to find a replacement if needed.
*Team assignments for finals will be completed at the end of the morning session based on the number of qualifying swimmers.
Correction:
On page 3 of the Meet Announcement, it incorrectly states that swimmers with non-qualifying times will be considered if, fewer than 24 swimmers have achieved the automatic COT. This should be changed to 18 swimmers as we are running a 6 lane pool rather than 8 lanes. If there are any questions, please contact the Meet Director, Mary Beth McCarthy.
Coaches Meeting(s):
A brief coaches meeting will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Friday in the office and as necessary on Saturday and Sunday. Upon arrival, all coaches are reminded to please register in the office, secure your I.D. badge, and pick up your packet. Coaches without proper identification (I.D. badges) and credentials will not be allowed on deck or allowed to start warm-up of their team. Coaches must have their I.D badges clearly displayed at all times.
Entries:
Meet entries will be accepted no later than 12:00 noon, Monday July 9, 2001 for those swimmers achieving an initial qualifying time after June 29, 2001. No updating of times will be accepted.
Corrections:
Meet corrections will be accepted no later than 9 pm, Tuesday, July 10, 2001. No improvement in seedtime will be accepted.
Scratches:
Coaches are reminded that scratch sheets must be turned in by 6:00 p.m. on Thursday for Friday’s events. If this is not possible, you must contact Nan Cooper and make arrangements. See Meet Announcement for details. For Saturday and Sunday’s preliminary session, the scratch sheets must be turned in before the start of finals of the preceding day. CT scratch procedures will apply. Positive check-in is required for the Men’s 800M freestyle and Women’s 1500M freestyle by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2001.
Relays
Relays will be swum as timed finals with the two fastest heats (Top 12) swimming in finals. All heats of the 800 Free Relay will swim Thursday evening.
Relay Cards:
Coaches are reminded to pickup Relay Cards in the office the day of the relay. Cards will NOT be given out in advance. Completed Relay Cards will be given to the Head Timer, behind the blocks, before swimming the relay.

Designated warm-up/warm-down lanes will be provided during each session. All entries into the water will be feet first except during one-way sprints.
Timed Trials:
Those swimmers wishing to swim a Timed Trial must have a positive check-in and their money turned in by 11:00 A.M. each day to the Meet Director.
Finals:
Three heats (Top 18) will return for the evening session, designated A, B, and C finals. The top two heats of relays will be swum at evening finals except for the 800Y Free Relay in which all heats will swim Thursday evening.
Awards:
Awards will be presented throughout finals. Coaches please remember to fill out a biography form if you have a swimmer the "A" final. Biography forms will be available at the announcer’s desk for all "A" finalists. Coaches please remind your swimmer to wear their team attire behind the blocks prior to the swimmers event.
Refreshments:
A light breakfast will be provided each day for coaches and officials. Snacks and beverages will be available throughout all sessions.
Badges:
All volunteers are required to wear a badge. Parents and spectators are not allowed on the pool deck at any time.
Shaving:

I look forward to working with everyone and making the Connecticut Senior Open Championships a positive and exciting experience for all involved.
Sincerely,
Mary Beth McCarthy, Meet Director 2001
