This year’s Short Course Eastern Zone Age Group Championship meet will be held in Webster, NY.
What are “Zones”?
USA Swimming has defined four (4) “Zones” for the United States: Eastern, Southern, Central, and Western.
Connecticut participates in the Eastern Zone with 11 other LSCs from northern Virginia to Maine.
Eastern Zone Age Group Championships, is the highest level Age Group meet in the zone for age group swimmers as there is no national level age group meets.
How does Connecticut Swimming participate?
Connecticut Swimming establishes a CT Zone Team every year to participate in this meet.
Athletes who qualify represent the CT Zone Team and are expected to honor the mission and code of conduct set forth by Connecticut Swimming.
These athletes become the 'face' of CT Swim in the eyes of 11 other LSCs and are expected to represent their fellow CT athletes and coaches with the highest level of conduct and performance.
How do I qualify for the zone team?
There are two (2) key criteria that must be met; swimmer must meet both to be eligible:
1.) Participation in four (4) CSI regularly scheduled sanctioned meets: For the Short Course season, swimmers must have swum in 4 CSI regularly scheduled sanctioned meets (may include CSI championship meets).
2.) Fastest 2 times (fastest 3 times for 10/U and 11/12): Among applicants, swimmers with the fastest 2 times (fastest 3 times for 10/U and 11/12) achieved from September 1st through the CT Age Group Championship in each event of each age group are qualified for zones. To be eligible, swimmer must achieve at least AA time specified in 2009-2012 National Age Group Motivational Standard for that event. These times must be from a sanctioned USA Swimming meet.

Do I travel with team?
All Zone Team members will travel to and from the meet as a team.
The team will travel by bus.
This traveling zone team will have 4 to 5 Coaches, 2 zone team coordinators and 8 to 12 parent chaperones.
The team will eat meals together, travel to the meet site together and cheer for our teammates all together as one team, Team Connecticut.
