Zone Update

We have had questions concerning vacations after/before the zone trip.

There is no problem traveling before or after the zone competition providing the following rules are upheld:
-
You must be able to arrive at the zone hotel by 3:30 on August 10th.
-
You must stay through the entire competition including Sat. night, you can leave after breakfast Sun. AM (August 15th).
-
We will have a form that must be filled out and signed by a parent.
-
There are  activities planned during the 5 days we are in Buffalo, 11/O can not leave the group during this time.

The purpose of traveling with the team is to participate as a team and have control over the environment/training of the swimmers.  We will not know the relay swimmers until the day a relay is to be swum.  We also have the swimmers paired up for sleeping arrangements.  It would not be fair to have one swimmer left with no room mate.

If you have any other questions contact Nanci Liscinsky (860)633-3177 or Liscinsky@cox.net

2004 Long Course
Zone Team

The Eastern Zone Long Course All-Star meet will be held August 11-14, 2004 in Buffalo, NY.  This is a time standards meet, therefore any athlete meeting the Selection Criteria and Qualifying Times may enter the All-Star meet as a member of the Connecticut Swimming Zone Team.  All athletes, including adapted, are encouraged to pre-apply, even if the time standards have not been met.  Times are considered through the conclusion of Age Group Championships on August 1, 2004. Of the adapted applicants, two 12/U and two 13/18 adapted athletes will be named to the LC Zone Team by Connecticut Swimming.

All 14/U athletes must pre-apply by July 12, 2004. 15-18 athletes may apply at the LC Age Group Championships, but completed paperwork must be submitted to the zone table by the time and date stated on the final application.  No exceptions.  15-18 athletes are strongly encouraged to pre-apply! The pre-application deadline is July 12, 2004.

On-line pre-application is encouraged.  Parents should submit the on-line application or assist their children.  If paper pre-application is preferred, please download the pre-application packet and mail your application.

We prefer on-line applications, but if you use overnight mail, please waive the signature requirement so that the package will be left at the door if no one is home.  Packages cannot be picked up at the post office.

Questions regarding the pre-application, 10/U hotel reservations or apparel should be directed to Debbie Barriss.  Other questions may be directed to Nanci Liscinsky.

The 11/18 athletes only will be traveling as a team and the 10/U athletes will be traveling and staying with their parents.  A block of rooms have been reserved for the 10/U families.  To reserve a room please email Debbie Barriss by July 19, 2004. 11/18 parents should make their own reservations and are not permitted to stay at the team hotel.  A hotel list will be posted in the near future.
