Parent Meeting
March 24, 2002

Welcome and congratulations to your swimmers for being selected to the 2002 CT Zone Team.

We will become together as one team from 20 different CT Teams.

Coaches:

1. Head coach-- Brooks Ensors WYW

2. Kaeley Steinnagel LEHY

3. Ann Hughes GLAS

4. Marty Kaczmarek NES

5. Diane Honrath TP

The Eastern zone Championship will be held at The Gloucester County Institute of Technology Pool in Sewell NJ.

We will be leaving Wednesday morning April 3, 2002 from two locations:

1. Rocky Hill (I-91exit 24) Old Country Buffet Strip Mall at 11:00AM

2. Fairfield (I-95 Exit 22 Southbound) McDonalds parking lot at 12:00PM

We will need to know where you will be getting on the bus. There is a sheet for you to sign up.

It is very important that you be on time.  I suggest that you get there about 15 minutes early  to give us time to load the bus and say your good -byes.

We will be returning on Sunday April 7, 2002 to the same locations except the Fairfield is on the northbound exit 22 McDonalds. We need someone who is not going, to be a contact person for other parents to contact about approx. time of arrival

Swimmer should bring a sack lunch with them since the trip is short we will not be stopping for lunch.

We will have bagels and juice on the bus for the swimmers to eat.

What to pack:

Each swimmer may bring two bags.

We are one team for this meet so we will be wearing CT Swimming apparel. No home team apparel.

For those who have been to Zones before they can wear old zone apparel but while on deck, current zone apparel must be worn.

Make sure you pack extra suits, goggles, and towels.

Books: There will be required quiet time each day for swimmers to rest and do homework. All the swimmers will be missing school so we know they will have work to make up.  So have them bring their books to do homework.

Medications: any medications that swimmers need should be bagged in baggie with name and dosage instructions and left with the chaperones

Cards or other small games are a good idea for use at the hotel between sessions.

Please do not bring expense electronic devices. We cannot be responsible for them.

Money: The swimmers will need money to buy meet t-shirts, concessions at meet or any other special item that they like to buy. The swimmers like to trade caps with other teams and we will sell additional caps for $4 for them to trade. Snack and drinks will be provided for the swimmers. If you would like you can give the money to the chaperone for safekeeping. Make sure it is in an envelope with their name on it.

Phone calls: Swimmers must have a way to call home, (phone card, collect etc..) Swimmers can call home from the hotel payphone between sessions and at night after dinner and before curfew. The swimmers phone will be turned off in their room along with pay TV. If you need to get a hold of your swimmer,  the hotel will have a list of the chaperones room and coordinators that you can get in contact with.

If you have questions of concerns please contact one of the coordinators.

The meet: The meet will start on Thursday and is run much like our CT State Championship meet.

The 11-Over swimmers will be swimming in the morning session and the 10-Unders in the afternoon session. There is a copy of a tentative time line that we will be using. Finals are for 11-over. All swimmers will be attending finals.

Spectator admission charges are as follows:

$4 per day (covers trial & finals)

The meet program will be available for $10.00 includes all 3 days. Finals program is free.

Each LSC is required to provide timers and Officials . Please sign up for a timing position after the meeting. If you have a watch please bring it. Our commitment is for the whole session or we will be fined. You may also want to split the session with someone else. This is also a chance to say hello to your swimmer.

All swimmers are to stay with the team until Sat. finals. If you are planning on taking your swimmer home please let us know today and give us a letter stating that the swimmer will be going home with you after the meet.

Code of Conduct: The swimmers behavior good or bad is a reflection on CT Swimming. All swimmers have signed a code of conduct, which says that they will act responsible and respectful. This policy will be strictly enforced. Violators will be punished by removal from relays and depending of the severity, removal from part or all of the meet and the premises. Our focus is on swimming and we don't want to waste time and energy disciplining swimmers. We want this experience to be a memorable one for all the swimmers and staff. We encourage you to talk with your swimmers about appropriate behavior and good sportsmanship.

Johanne will give you information about the hotel and meals.
