LONG COURSE ZONE TEAM

 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

 

 

The 2000 Eastern Long Course Zone Swimming Championships will be held in Buffalo at the University of Buffalo pool (12 & unders) and the Erie Community College pool (13 and overs and ALL finals.)

Dates: August 9 - 12, 2000.   The following information should be reviewed closely by Coaches, Parents and Swimmers.

 

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

 

 

1          Swimmers must be registered with Connecticut Swimming Inc. for 2000 season.

2       To be considered for the team, swimmers 14 and Under must pre-apply by July 15, 2000.

 

3       All 15/0 swimmers are encouraged to pre-apply, however registration for these swimmers will be available during Senior and Age Group Championships.

 

IMPORTANT  NOTE

15/O swimmers will be allowed to compete in additional zone events over and above those that you have qualified for BY MEETING THE ZONE CUTOFF TIME(S) if you have 1) at least an "A" time and 2) Connecticut has not already fielded the minimum number (2) of positions available. Please understand you must have made at least one zone cutoff in order to be considered for any additional event.  This selection for open positions will be filled based on the fastest times obtained in a USA sanctioned Long Course meet of those swimmers who have made at least one zone cutoff time.

 

4          Swimmer must have achieved an LC qualifying time (see list of qualifying times posted on the CT website.)  Times must be achieved after May 1, 2000 in Regularly Scheduled CSI Sanctioned LC meter meet or out-of -state meet which must include hard copy of official meet results.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Initial qualifying times cannot be achieved from any Split or Time Trial.

 

5          Swimmer must compete in 2 regularly scheduled CSI-USA sanctioned meets during the 2000 Long Course Season (May 1 through the conclusion of Age Groups.)

 

NOTE: Age Group Championships and/or CT Senior Open may count as one (1) or two (2) of the meets.

 

6          Athletes who have competed in an individual event in any of the following, USA Senior National, Junior, US Open or Trials class meet are not eligible to enter this meet.

 

7          13/0 athletes who have ever achieved USA Senior National or Junior qualifying times in an individual event may not enter that event.

 

8          12/U athletes who have achieved USA Senior National or Junior qualifying times but have not competed in any of the above - mentioned meets may enter that event.

                                                                                                           

                                                                                                                       


 TEAM SELECTION

 

·         Swimmers who have MET all the ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS  and have a minimum of one of the specified 2000 long course zone qualifying times in his/her individual event in his/her respective age group.

 

Important Note: 

·         If two swimmers from the zone team choose not to compete in an event, alternate swimmers will be selected from the zone team.  Please be sure to indicate best times achieved for any/all events in which you are willing to compete on your final zone application. (Individual or relay)

 

·         RELAYS will be chosen at the Zone Meet by the Zone Coaches.  Relays will be based on swimmers fastest times submitted with application and/or Zone Team performance at the Zone Coaches discretion.  At no time should a swimmer’s coach or parent attempt to influence or interfere with the relay team selection process.  Such interference may result in a swimmer's removal  from all relay events.

 

·         Swimmers selected to the Zone Team must adhere to the Connecticut Code of Conduct.  If a swimmer has previously violated the Connecticut Code of Conduct, additional restrictions will apply.

 

 

APPLICATION FORMS

 

PRE-APPLICATION:      This form should be completed and received by the Zone Coordinator by July 15, 2000.  Faxes are acceptable.  Swimmers 14 & Under who fail to submit this form will not be eligible for Zone Team Selection.

 

15O swimmers have until the conclusion of age groups.

 

FINAL APPLICATION: This form must be completed and turned into the Zone Coordinator by the conclusion of the final session of Age Group Championships.  The Zone Coordinator will be available for registration at Senior Championships and Age Groups.

 

NOTE:  Times may be updated until the last swim at Age Groups.

 

THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE DEADLINE FOR PAPERWORK.
