2000 SHORT COURSE ZONE TEAM

 

 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

 

 

 

The 2000 Eastern Short Course Zone Swimming Championships will be held at Prince Georges Sports and Learning Complex on March 30 - April 1, 2000.  The following information should be reviewed closely by Coaches, Parents and Swimmers.

 

 

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

 

•

Swimmers must be registered with Connecticut Swimming Inc. for 2000 season.

•

Swimmer must compete in 4 regularly scheduled CSI-USA sanctioned meets during the 1999-2000 Short Course Season.

 

(Age Group Championships and/or CT Senior Open may count as one (1) or two (2) of the meets.)

 

 

•

Athletes who have competed in an individual event in any of the following: USA Senior National, Junior, US Open or Trials class meet are not eligible to enter this meet.

 

 

•

13/0 athletes who have ever achieved USA Senior National or Junior qualifying times in an individual event may not enter that event.

 

 

•

12/U athletes who have achieved USA Senior National or Junior qualifying times but have not competed in any of the above-mentioned meets may enter that event. 

 

 

 

•

 

14/U swimmers MUST PRE-APPLY by February 23, 2000 to be considered for the Team.  (See attached 2000 SC ZONE TEAM PRE-APPLICATION Form – Ben Wallace, Zone Coordinator – (203) 790-8569.)

 

 

 

•

 

The registration period for 15/O swimmers extends through Saturday of Seniors Championships.

 

 

 

IMPORTANT CHANGE IN ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT

 

 

1.                   

To be considered for the team, swimmers 14 and Under must pre-apply by February 23, 2000.

 

 

2.                   

All 15/0 swimmers need not pre-apply.  Registration for these swimmers will be available during Age Group Championships and Senior Championships.

15/0 swimmers - to qualify for Zone Team must achieve a minimum of one AA time.  Furthermore, selected swimmers (based on fastest AA times) will be allowed to compete in additional events with “A” times if event openings exist.

SELECTION CRITERIA

 

Team selection will be announced at the CHALLENGE MEETING following SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS.

( Place, date and time to be announced)

 

 

Eligible Times: 

 

•

Must be achieved in Regularly Scheduled CSI Sanctioned meets after September 1, 1999.

 

•

Minimum 2000 Short Course “AA” National Age Group Time Standards.

 

•

Cannot be achieved from any split or time trial.

 

•

If achieved out-of -state must include Official Meet Results (Hard Copy signed by meet referee) unless meet results are currently on file in the CSI office (860)-657-1164.

 

 

 

Note:  Times from high school state championships will be used to update entry times once the swimmer has been selected to the team.  Official signed meet results from these meets must be included for these times to be used.  It is the responsibility of each swimmer and/or his/her coach to update these times.

 

 

TEAM SELECTION

 

•

Swimmers who have MET all the ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS and have one of the two (2) fastest times for his/her individual event in his/her respective age group shall be selected for the team. 

 

 

 

Important Please Note: 

•

If one/both of the two (2) fastest swimmers choose not to compete OR have not MET ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS, alternate swimmers will be selected if they have MET ALL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS.

 

 

•

RELAYS will be chosen at the Zone Meet by the Zone Coaches.  Relays will be based on swimmers fastest times submitted with application and/or Zone Team performance at the Zone Coaches discretion.  At no time should a swimmer’s coach or parent attempt to influence or interfere with the relay team selection process.  Such interference may result in swimmer withdrawal from all relay events.

Swimmers selected to the Zone Team must adhere to the Connecticut Code of Conduct.  If a swimmer has previously violated the Connecticut Code of Conduct, additional restrictions will apply.

 

 

 

APPLICATION FORMS

 

PRE-APPLICATION:

This form should be completed and forwarded to the Zone Co-Coordinator by February 23, 2000.  Swimmers 14 & Under who fail to submit this form will not be eligible for Zone Team Selection.

 

 

15/O REGISTRATION:

15/0 swimmers planning to attend the Zone Meet and swimming in Age Groups are strongly encouraged begin the registration process Friday or Saturday of Age Group Championships.  All other 15/O swimmers may apply by Saturday of Senior Championships.  Times may be updated until the last swim at the Senior Open providing an application form has been completed and filed with the zone coordinator. 

 

 

FINAL APPLICATION:

This form must be completed and turned into the Zone Coordinator by the conclusion of the final session of Age Groups Championships or Senior Championships; which ever is the swimmer's final meet.  The Zone Coordinator will be available for registration at Age Groups and Senior Championships.
