Connecticut FAST enhancement: In the near future, Connecticut FAST will include parent/swimmer accounts where a parent/swimmer may create an account and apply for various CSI programs such as Scholar Athlete, Travel Assistance, etc., view status of applications, transfer to a new club, upload an address change, etc.

Congratulations to our new Athlete and Coach Representatives taking office today. Junior Athlete Representatives are Jordan Berger (WYW) and Coral McNary (CAT). Senior Athlete Representative is Mark Sedlak (WRAT) and Junior Coach Representative is Matt Hurst (SNCO). CSI would like to thank former Senior Athlete Reps Leki Koukos (CDOG) and Molly Condron (CDOG), and Senior Coach Rep John Spadafina (CDOG) for their volunteer service to CSI and for representing CSI coaches and athletes at CSI Board and Committee meetings.

Draft Minutes are posted for the Program Development Committee meeting held Monday, April 30, 2012 at 7:30 pm via teleconference. CSI clubs/athletes should note that entry fees for 2012 LC Senior Championship were raised to $8 per individual event and $16 per relay. Entry fees for 2012 LC Age Group Championship were raised to $6 per individual event. Relay events and relay-only fees remain unchanged. Due to oversubscription of the SNCO June 15-17 Qualifier, the UCONN pool has been secured for Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17. Clubs cut from the Wesleyan location will swim at UCONN. The same qualifier events will be held at UCONN as at Wesleyan. Session times are 12 noon warm-up and 1 pm start. The UCONN pool is still open for entries. Please use the same meet events file for sending an entry. Please contact Bill Ball with questions.

Update: CSI has been notified by University of Connecticut (UCONN) Athletic Department that the following weekends are available for hosting swim meets. Interested clubs may contact UCONN directly or email Program Operations Chair, Tak Takabayashi, for contact information. Clubs must request a meet sanction from CSI by April 10, 2012 and submit meet acceptance, meet announcement, and other files required for sanctioning by April 15, 2012.

CSI Policy regarding additional meet for a Long Course Season: NOTE: Due to the lack of long course venues, clubs procuring a facility after the bid deadlines may request meet sponsorship. CSI Program Operations will consider requests on an individual basis with consideration given to the current long course schedule.

The entry deadline for the Speedo Championship Series Eastern Zone Region 2 Meet has been extended until 11:59pm on Tuesday, March 14th, 2012. This entry deadline is in line with the Region 1 Meet. Entries for both meets will close at 11:59pm (EST), Tuesday, March 13th, 2012 in the USA Swimming OME system.

USA Swimming has posted all the documents from the Athlete Protection Training course in the Safe Sport section of usaswimming.org. Also updated is the Educational Resources links with Praesidium’s power point presentation, anti-bullying resources, and prevention and warning signs tip sheets from Stop It Now! The tip sheets are downloadable.

New Officials Clinic will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in New Haven. This is also a re-certifying clinic for S&T and Starters.

FAST enhancements as of 03.01.12. Users now will see an "Advanced Search" option in certain queries. Best Times Advanced Search will enable the user to search by meet type, meet location, and date. User has option to select splits/no splits and custom times. Meets Entered query will automatically return a list of meet types and location. Top Times Advanced Search will allow user to search by meet type, meet location, and swimmer age-up date.

Senior Championship Timeline Note Well: This timeline for preliminary sessions does not include scratches, warm-up/down breaks, and contains heats that will be swum in finals. This timeline provides a rough estimate only.

The entry deadline for 8 & Under Championships is today Thursday, March 1^st.

USA Swimming now has an online submittal form for Safety Occurrences. Submitting the form online will be a more efficient way of sending information to USA Swimming. The Report of Occurrence is submitted any time there is an accident or injury during such USA Swimming activities as Sanctioned or Approved swim meets, swimming practices, contracted Swim-a-Thons or approved social events.

Zone Practice Announcement: There will be two zone practices at the Wesleyan pool on the following dates: Wed. March, 21 from 6-8 pm and Sat. March 24th from 9-11am. If you are signed up for the 2012 Spring Zone Team you MUST attend at least ONE of the practices. There will be a parent meeting at each session with vital information for the parents as well as a question & answer session. Please plan on attending a practice.

Appeal to parents of Zone Team athletes: We are in tremendous need of parent volunteers for the zone team, especially parents of athletes that are interested in attending the Eastern Zone Age Group Championship meet. Our long-time zone coordinator, Randy LaRocca, will undergo stem cell transplant in the next few weeks for acute lymphoma. We need parents to step in and fill Randy's shoes while he is recovering. Help is needed now in preparation for the trip as well as zone managers to travel with the team. The Zone Team is all-volunteer and run by parents. Your skills and volunteer spirit are needed.
