CSI Swimmer of the Year

The new criteria for Athlete of the year as approved unanimously

In regards to International competitions, the question was asked, would a CT swimmer’s achievements while representing a another country be considered, it was agreed that a swimmer must be representing the USA for his/her achievements to be considered

Date of CT Seniors

It was agreed upon by a vote of 3-1 to hold the LC CT Senior Championships, June 26-29.

It was brought up that the meet is extremely early, but having the weekend before Sectionals was no in favor of the committee and most of the committee agreed that 4th of July weekend can be a difficult weekend for volunteers.

CT LC Senior Line-up of events

It was unanimously accepted that this summer we will have a new line-up of events for CT Senior Championships.

We are using a similar order of events we will use for 2008 short course seniors, of note we moved distance events to the end of each respective session and shuffled order of remaining events on Saturday – 200IM, 50 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 400 Free and Sunday 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Fly.

This would allow similar length sessions for all three days, last summer Fri-Sat were at 4 hours or a little over, but Sunday was much longer.

2008 LC Cuts

No vote took place. Further research is necessary.

Per Henk’s request George Miles researched the LC cuts for 2008 with the goal of having the same size meet, but with more of the kids entered with meter times. The proposal by George had many of the girl’s cut loosened while only three of the boy’s cuts loosened and one boys’ cut tightened.

George’s rational is "I examined the 50th swum time in every event 400 Ms or less.  When the 50th time was slower than our existing LCM cut, I'm proposing that we move the LCM cut toward the 50th time - but doing so carefully so that we don't overshoot the mark and make the meet too large.  Consequently, in cases of 100 meter events, I didn't move the cut more than 2.5 seconds. In the case of 200 meter events, I didn't move the cut more than 4 seconds.  I think we will probably have to loosen some of the LCM cuts even more in the future to reduce non-conforming entry times in the Summer Senior Championships, but this can be a small, safe test of the concept."

Henk and George also discussed the yard times and George didn’t think those needed to be changed. The committee was positive about George’s proposal, but agreed that the SCY times should be looked at. Henk is researching the affect on the number of swimmer if we tighten the yard times as much as we lossen the meter tcuts (i.e. 50M free cut is loosen .40, the 50 yard cut would be tighten .40).

Other 2008 LC Meet Announcement changes

This was not voted upon due to the committee members not having a copy of the announcement.

Proposed changes included: List relay qualifying standards on the meet announcement.

All other changes will be dependant on date of the meet.
