Connecticut Swimming, Inc. Program Development Committee Minutes November 11, 1997 Present: Chris Pac, Bev Medlin(CAT), Ellen Johnston (WRAT), Mary Lynch, Mary Anne Condon, Mary Ellen Brigham (CAT), Rob Riccobon (NES) Absent: Chris Michaelson (ARAC), Cara Moynighan (WRAT) Absent with call: Kim Richardson The meeting was called to order at 8:15 pm at Chili's (alternate site) due to Orange Community Center being closed. Senior Committee: Ellen reported that her committee will be meeting in January. Age Group Committee: Discussion regarding sale of t-shirts at Age Group and Regional Championships. New vendor to be used. Separate artwork for the meets. Teams that host Regional Championships will pay CSI 10% of sales (administrative fee). No time trials will be held at Regional Championships. Relay splits achieved at Regional Championships may be used in initial qualifying times for purposes of entry to Age Groups. Program Operations Committee: Mary reported that early short course meets are varying from undersubscribed to oversubscribed. No pattern. After discussion, it was decided that teams which wish to use CSIs 50M cable will pay a $10 rental fee. If the cable is damaged, club is responsible for repair. LC bid packets are in preparation stage. Technical Planning Committee: Mary Anne reported that George is scheduling a long-range planning meeting for April or May. Coaches Representative: "The Stopwatch" (newsletter) will be mailed to all CSI coaches around 11/14. Rob and Chris Michaelson are preparing proposals that they will present to CIAC regarding the HS boys swim season/USS swim season. Mary Anne requested that CSI approve proposals prior to any meeting or correspondence with CIAC. Athlete Representatives: No report. Zone Coordinator: Mary Ellen reported that zone coach application and coaches' incentive paperwork would be going out together in the next mailing. New Business: Chris requested that each chairperson submit list of committee members and meeting dates. Mary Ellen reported that according to Ed Easley, clubs are having a difficult time securing officials to work meets. Is this a function of too many meets? CSI will make language in bid packet much stronger re: host club's responsibility to secure officials - not Ed's responsibility. Clubs should encourage parents to become officials. CSI would like to see clubs indicate (at least by the time they submit sanction fee) who their officials will be. Respectfully submitted, Chris Pac Program Development Committee Page 2 November 11, 1997
