01.09.08 update:  Katie qualified for the Championship final in the 400 IM with a time of 5:04.18. At finals she dropped to a 4:59.73 which was 7 seconds faster than her time coming into the meet (Previous best was 5:06.75).

01.08.08 update:  Katie garnered another silver medal finishing second in the 800M Freestyle swimming a 8:42.31. This time breaks the CSI 15/16 and  breaks the women's Senior record by over 5.5 seconds!

USA Swimming Wrap-Up

Katie Gardocki (BEAR),  USA Swimming Junior National Team member, is in Melbourne, Australia representing the USA in Australia's Victorian Championships.

 

Katie finished 2nd in the 400 meter free behind Kate Ziegler (World Record Holder 1500M Freestyle) with a lifetime best 4:14.25.  In doing this Katie broke her own CSI 15/16 and Senior CT resident records in this event. Katie was in 4th place (almost 5th) with only 100 meters to go and brought her last 100 home in 1:02.42 to get second place. She had qualified 2nd in the morning with a 4:17.57.

The 800M Freestyle relay brought Katie her second silver. Her relay finished second to the USA "A" relay and Katie split (unofficial- 2nd leg) was a 2:02.91.
