Connecticut Senior Championship Highlights
July 14-17, 2011 @ Wesleyan University

Connecticut's top swimmers from 42 clubs competed in the 2011 Connecticut Senior Championship held at Wesleyan University, July 14-17, 2011.  Re-writing the record books were 9 athletes breaking 12 records. High Point Winners: Shelby Fortin, WYW; Paul Dyrkacz, BEAR; Juliette Lajoie, BEAR; Spencer Scarth, WYW. Club High Point winner for Women's, Men's and Overall Combined was Wilton Y Wahoos.  Congratulations to all! 

Elected by his coach peers as Senior Coach of the Year was George Miles of the Branford Stringrays (BRS). Last summer Emily Barber qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials in the 100 and 200 meter Breaststrokes - setting Connecticut and Resident 17/18 records for the 200 meter Breaststroke and taking 26th place at Summer Nationals. Amy Zhao achieved the 19th fastest time in the nation in the Girl's 13/14 50 meter free and qualified for the US Open and Short Course Junior National Championships. This past spring, with six individual swimmers, the Stingray's women's team placed fifth at Connecticut Swimming's Senior Open Championships. The Stingrays qualified 8 swimmers for the Sectional Championships in Buffalo and 7 swimmers for the YMCA short course national championships. Swimming for Bucknell University, Eric Sokolosky qualified for Winter Nationals and the US Open Championships. Later this summer, Emily Barber, and Eric Sokolosky, representing Bucknell University's Bison Aquatics, will participate at USA Swimming's National Championships.
