On the heels of the USA Swimming National Championships, USA Swimming conducted the Junior National Championship for athletes 18 and younger. For the first time this meet was held in short course yards with a long course Invitational held on December 14th. Competing for CT were: Thomas Casey, SNCO; Shelby Fortin, WYW; Taylor Friedmann, CAT; Dana Grindall, SNCO; Michaela Kearney, SNCO; Ann Kearns, SNCO; Adam Lebovitz, WYW; Alicia Mathieu, WYW; KC Moss, WYW; Justine Ress, SNCO; Haley Sinatro, SNCO; and Caroline Wilson, SNCO.
Three SNCO athletes broke 5 CT Resident records at
these meets. Dana Grindall, SNCO, swam a 1:03.67 in
the 100 meter fly breaking the Girls 13/14 Resident
record. Alicia Mathieu, swam a 16:17.36 in the 1650
free, breaking the resident record in both the 15/16
and Senior girls. In this same swim, she swam a
split of 9:49.70, which broke the 1000Y free record
for the 15/16 girls. Justine Ress, swam a 1:58.70
in the 200Y Back, breaking the Girls 15/16 record.

CSI athletes fared well at USA Swimming's Short Course National Championship. Many athletes were finalists and Andrew Grinalds, WRAT, broke the Senior and 17/18 CT Resident Records in the 400 IM swimming a 3:52.63. Congratulations to Andrew and our national finalists!
