Three Olympic Trial Cuts
and Three New Resident Records achieved by Three Connecticut Swimmers!

Ten Connecticut swimmers made the trip to East Meadow, NY for the USA Swimming Spring National Championship held March 27th thru 31st. Adrian Astiz UCON, Phil Baity WYW, Jess Brookman SNCO, Katie DeVinney UCON, Margaux Farrell HMST, Sarah Froehlich SNCO, Katie Gardocki BEAR, Alicia Mathieu SNCO, Eric Ress SNCO and Lindsey Snyder CCSU.
Katie Gardocki started it off with the first day of competition in the 800 Free. She broke the 2008 Olympic Trial qualifier cut at prelims in the women’s 800 meter freestyle (8:49.64) and made it back to finals Thursday night. She finished with the sixth fastest time in the event at Spring Nationals. And a record was also broken in the 15-16 girls resident category for Connecticut. This is Katie’s second 2008 Olympic Trial cut along with the 400 meter freestyle.
Margaux Farrell became a 2008 Olympic Trial qualifier when she broke the cut at Finals in the women's 100 meter freestyle (57:07). The third fastest time in the event at Spring Nationals and a record was also broken in the 15-16 girls resident category for Connecticut.
Eric Ress became a 2008 Olympic Trial qualifier when he broke the cut at prelims and again at Finals in the men's 200 meter backstroke (203:22). The sixth fastest time in the event at Spring Nationals and a record was also broken in the 15-16 boys resident category for Connecticut.
