Golden Goggle Awards

November 15th marked the inaugural Golden Goggles Awards ceremony at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.  Swimming legends joined celebrities to celebrate this year's swimming accomplishments and to raise money for the USA Swimming Foundation. Bob Costas, NBC broadcaster, was the emcee and joining him were swimming legends, John Nabor, Matt Biondi and Mark Spitz. Olympic superstar Michael Phelps took home two of the 10 awards presented, earning Male Athlete of the Year and Male Race of the Year. Natalie Coughlin, who led the U.S. women with five medals in Athens, including two gold, was named Female Athlete of the Year.

On the unofficial Connecticut attendance list for this event were Jeff Allen, Donna De Varona, Ellen Johnston, Frank Keefe, Karen and Jeff Keith, Bill Krumm, John Meyers, Leanne and Ray Spletzer and Kurt, Hayley and Heidi Wolfgruber.  Our apologies to anyone we may have missed.
