World Championship Trials
The World Championship Trials were held April 1-6, 2005 at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. This meet was governed by USA Swimming and was USA Swimming's spring national championship meet.
With pride, CSI boasts two athletes that participated in this elite meet: Jamie Crowley (CCSU) and Daniel Madwed (SHKS). Jaime swam the 50M, 100M Free and the 100M Breast. Daniel swam the 100M and 200M Butterfly and qualified for finals in both events. He finished 3rd in 100M Butterfly with a 2:00.15.

Joining our athletes at the World Championship Trials were CSI Referees, Mike Huffman and Bill Repass. Thanks to Bill and Mike for representing our LSC on the national meet level.
Speedo Champions Series
The Eastern Zone holds two Speedo Champions Series for senior swimmers in the spring (SCY) and one "Super-Sectional" in the summer (LCM). The Region One sectional meet was held at the Nassau Aquatic Center, East Meadow, NY, hosted by LIAC and the Region Two sectional meet was held at George Mason University, Fairfax, VA and was hosted by VA Swimming.
Over 50 CSI athletes attended these two meets and a summary of the finalists is listed below. First-place finishers are in bold. In addition to the finalists, Madison Kennedy (OAK) and Phil Baity (WYW) achieved national championship qualifying times in the 100 freestyle and 200 backstroke, respectively. Qualifying for the USA Swimming Junior Championship were David Guernsey (CAT), Phil Baity (WYW) and Madison Kennedy (OAK). Record-breaker, Eric Ress (SNCO), broke the 13/14 Boys 200Y Back Resident Record, swimming a 1:54.10 at the Long Island meet.
