It may have been a bit chilly on the pool deck at Wesleyan University but the swimming was hot! Twelve CSI records fell at the 2005 Senior Open Championship held this past weekend, March 3-6th. And for the first time, four Wesleyan pool records fell to CSI swimmers. In a policy change effective this season, Wesleyan Swimming and Diving now recognizes CSI swims.
Record-Breakers:

Jaime Crowley (CCSU) broke the Senior CT and Resident Records in the 50Y freestyle (22.91). The CT Record was an 18 year-old record held by Olympian Jenny Thompson!!! Jaime's swim also broke the Wesleyan pool record.
Kristen Frost (SNCO) broke the Wesleyan pool record in the Women's 1650Y and 100 Y freestyle (10:06.00 and 16:47.60).
Madi Kennedy (OAK) broke three 17/18 CT records in the 50Y freestyle (23.45), 100Y freestyle (50.84) and the 100Y backstroke (56.68). Madi's 100Y freestyle swim took down another longstanding record that Janel Jorgesen (WW) set in 1989. The 100Y and 200 Y backstroke swims also broke Wesleyan pool records.
Daniel Madwed (SHKS) broke the 15/16 CT 200Y butterfly record and Wesleyan pool record (1:51.69).
Elizabeth Pelton (WYW) broke the 11/12 CT 200Y backstroke record (2:12.32).
Aidan McKinlay (CDEV) broke the 100Y butterfly Wesleyan pool record (56.88).
Eric Ress (SNCO) broke the 13/14 CT and Resident Records in the 100Y backstroke (53.23) and 200Y backstroke (1:54.10).
Lauren Solernou (CDEV) broke the 11/12 Resident Record in the 100Y backstroke (1:00.46).

This championship was a huge success due to the efforts of many including all the parent volunteers that filled work assignments.
