Coast to Coast

From California to Maryland and north to Buffalo, Connecticut athletes populated the pool decks at fast meets this long course season.  Superior swimming by CSI athletes set marks at the Speedo Champions Super-Sectional, ConocoPhillips National Championship, Junior National Championship and the Eastern Zone All-Star Meet. Five CSI resident records fell at USA Swimming's National Championship. Kristen Frost (SNCO) broke Resident records in the 17/18 and Senior 200M freestyle (2:04.37) and the 17/18 and Senior 400M freestyle (4:18.53) and Geoff Rathgeber (SNCO) broke the Resident Senior record in the 200M IM (2:05.43). Eric Ress (SNCO) broke the 13/14 Resident Record in the 100M back (1:00.94) and 200M back (2:09.32) at Junior Championships and at the All-Star zone meet, KC Moss (WYW) broke the 10/U Resident Record in the 50M Breast (38.06) and 100M Breast (1:22.62) and Elizabeth Pelton (WYW) broke the 11/12 Resident Record 50M Back (31.43).

 Speedo Champions Super-Sectional Meet

The second annual Super-Sectional meet was held July 21-24, 2005 in St. Mary's City, MD. This meet combines top senior athletes from the Eastern Zone Region One and Region Two divisions. Finalists are listed below and first-place finishes are in bold.

ConocoPhillips National Championship Highlights

Connecticut Swimming was well-represented at the USA Swimming ConocoPhillips National Championship August 3-7, 2005 in Irvine, CA.  Five CSI athletes participated in the fastest U.S. championship meet this season: Kristen Frost SNCO, Kelly Hannigan GYWD, Daniel Madwek SHKS, Michael McLean SNCO, Geoff Rathgeber SNCO. Special congratulations to Daniel Madwed who was declared the 18/U National Champion!  Daily Summaries

USA Swimming Junior National Championship

USA Swimming conducted the Junior National Championship, August 9-13, 2005 in Irvine, CA.  Eric Ress (SNCO) competed and was a C Finalist in the 100 and 200 backstroke.

Eastern Zone All-Star Meet

Ninety-seven top-notch age group swimmers represented CT in the 2005 LC Zone All-Star Meet in Buffalo, NY. Each long course season, the four USA Swimming zones (Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western) hold a team championship or all-star meet.  Connecticut, as part of the Eastern Zone, competed against New England, Niagara, Allegheny Mountain, Virginia, Maryland, Metropolitan, Mid-Atlantic, Maine, Adirondack, Potomac Valley and New Jersey and finished 8th over-all.
