ConocoPhillips National Championship

Connecticut Swimming was well represented at the USA Swimming ConocoPhillips National Championship this past week in Irvine, CA. Five CSI athletes participated in the fastest U.S. championship meet this year: Kristen Frost SNCO, Kelly Hannigan GYWD, Daniel Madwek SHKS, Michael McLean SNCO, Geoff Rathgeber SNCO.
Five CSI records fell at this meet: Kristen Frost (SNCO) broke Resident records in the 17/18 and Senior 200M freestyle (2:04.37) and the 17/18 and Senior 400M freestyle (4:18.53). Geoff Rathgeber (SNCO) broke the Resident Senior record in the 200M IM (2:05.43). In addition, six Olympic Trials qualifying times were achieved by: Kristen Frost, 400 and 800 freestyle; Daniel Madwed (SHKS), 100 and 200 butterfly; and Geoff Rathgeber, 200 and 400 IM.
UPDATE: Daniel Madwed was declared the 18/U National Champion!

Daily Summary
Day Five: Kristen Frost is back for the final day wrapping up with the 1500M free and personal best of 16:55.77. Geoff Rathgeber finals in the 200M IM, finishes 13th, with a 2:05.43; an Olympic Trials cut and Sr. Resident record.
Day Four: Frost, Madwed and Rathgeber all final in day four events. Kristen Frost finals in the 400M freestyle and her faster prelim times gives her an Olympic Trials qualifying time and the 17/18 and Sr Resident records (4:18.53). Dan Madwed finishes 10th in the 100M fly (54.39) and Geoff Rathgeber finishes 20th in the 100M breast (1:04.96).
Day Three: Geoff Rathgeber finishes 15th in the 400M IM swimming a 4:29.11 and in the women's 400M IM, Kelly Hannigan swims a 5:09.87. Kristen Frost breaks the Resident Record in the 200M Free, finishing 37th with a 2:04.37.
Day Two: Daniel Madwed finishes fourth in the 200M Fly (1:59.01), swimming against world record-holder Michael Phelps. Geoff Rathgeber finishes 32nd in the 200M Back with a 2:06.58.
Day One: Kristen Frost finishes 23rd in the 800M Free and qualifies for Olympic Trials with a 8:50.36.
