Daily Team Wrap-ups

Both Paralympians Deb Gruen and Michael Prout Prout have won medals in Athens.  Mike took gold in the 400 meter freestyle to add to his bronze in the 100 meter freestyle.  Deb took bronze in the 100 meter breastroke.

Mike finished 4th in the S9 200 IM today.  He broke the American record by over 2 seconds, with a time of 225.15.  He just missed the bronze, which was won with a 224.88.  Tomorrow Mike swims the 400 meter free, where he is seeded 2nd.

Deb Gruen finished 6th in the 400 meter free and swims the 100 meter breaststroke tomorrow and the 50 meter butterfly on Saturday.

09.21.04
Michael Prout (BEAR) won a bronze medal in the 100 meter free with a time of 59.21, which is a new American and Pan-American record.  Yesterday he broke the 100 fly American Record with a 105.99 in trials.  (Dana Albrycht's [OAK] record).  It was later broken by another American.  Mike went 105.98 in finals for 6th place. Both are lifetimes bests.

Deb Gruen (HNHS) finished 7th in the 200 meter IM and and 15th in the 100 meter freestyle.
