
Connecticut's fastest came together this past weekend at Wesleyan University for the 2000 Connecticut Long Course Senior Open which hosted thirty teams and over three hundred fifty athletes. Three and one-half days of competition brought down nineteen Connecticut Swimming records and over forty-five Junior Championship qualifying times.
Rewriting the record book were: Kristen Frost (CAT) 11/12 CT and Resident record in the 400 free (4:29.16) and 200 free (208.85) and Resident record in the 100 free (1:00.44), Amber Johnston (UAC) 17/18 CT record in the 200 breast (242.14), Ben Michaelson (SOCO) 17/18 CT record in the 50 free (24.07) 100 fly (56.80) and 200 IM (211.70), Geoff Rathgeber (SOCO) 13/14 CT and Resident record in the 200 IM (2:13.43) and 200 breast (2:30.43) and the CT record in the 400 IM (451.44) and James Veazey (HNHS) 17/18 CT record in the 200 fly (207.98). Relay records were broken by Keith Nichols, Sean Raffile, Jeff Hammeken and Matt Jabs of the University Aquatic Club (UAC) in the Mens 200 medley relay (1:50.89) and by Kevin Budris, Matt Czaplicki, Ben Michaelson and Justin Carroll of the Southern Connecticut Swim Club (SOCO) in the Mens 200 free relay (1:39.36). Wilton Y Wahoos claimed the Women's Team High Point with University Aquatic Club as runner-up and Cougar Aquatic Club finishing third overall. Men's Team High Point went to University Aquatic Club, with OMNI taking the runner-up followed by Southern Connecticut for third. Top honors went to University Aquatic Club winning the Combined Team High Point, runner-up went to Wilton Y Wahoos and third to OMNI. Congratulations to all!
